Our Localization Experience with a Global Learning Platform

Our Localization Experience with a Global Learning Platform

For any organization creating educational content, the first step is developing a course, training program, masterclass, or learning experience that delivers real value. The next is making that content accessible to everyone who could benefit from it, including people who do not speak the original language.

This is where localization can open entirely new possibilities.

For the past nine years, we have partnered with a global learning platform offering personal growth programs, daily micro-coaching, meditations, and audio content from teachers around the world. Its content ranges from practical topics such as public speaking, health, and longevity to deeply spiritual subjects covering chakras, meditation, and out-of-body experiences.

Over the years, our partnership has evolved alongside the platform, its audiences, and the technology available to us.

Localizing for different audiences and formats

Our client's platform serves both B2C and B2B audiences, which means the content needs to work in very different contexts.

For B2C content, the language needs to feel accessible, engaging, and natural to a broad audience. B2B learning content, on the other hand, often requires a more precise and professional approach.

Our role has been to adapt both, while maintaining the terminology, tone, and level of expertise expected from the original content.

Over the years, we have localized content into Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese, covering much more than courses alone.

Our work has included:

  • Online courses and masterclasses
  • Email sequences and marketing campaigns
  • Ad visuals and other marketing materials
  • PDFs and workbooks
  • Video content and localized audio

This means delivering the right format for every part of the learning experience, from written content in PDF to visual assets in JPEG and finished video in MP4.

Precision starts before translation

One of the most important parts of this partnership has always been terminology.

Our client has particularly high standards when it comes to glossary and consistency, so we established a close collaborative process to review and approve terminology before production began.

When a program was based on a book, we also made sure our linguists had access to the original material for additional context. If the book was already available in the target language, we aligned our terminology with the existing translation to maintain consistency across the entire learning experience.

This level of preparation is especially important when content covers such a broad range of subjects. Our teams work with the appropriate linguistic and subject-matter expertise to make sure complex concepts are translated accurately, whether the topic is nutrition or a highly specialized meditation practice.

When localization goes beyond language

Meditation content presented a completely different challenge.

The objective was not simply to translate the words. Tone, pacing, delivery, audio frequencies, and mixing all played a role in creating the intended experience. Some recordings even required specific audio configurations, such as having certain sounds played through only one side of the headphones.

Every request had to be considered from both a linguistic and technical perspective.

As our client explained in her testimonial:

"They were also very great at working on projects that could be considered a bit weird or difficult to localize."

She also highlighted a meditation project where the communication style, sounds, timing, and differences between languages made localization particularly challenging. The team was able to adapt the content while preserving the intended experience.

The goal was always the same: make the international audience feel they are receiving the same level of quality as the original English-speaking audience.

Evolving with AI

When AI voice technology started becoming more accessible, our partnership evolved once again.

At one point, the platform explored handling the entire localization process with AI, with the idea of reducing the need for a traditional localization workflow.

But while AI has come a long way, it still cannot consistently handle the linguistic, contextual, and quality requirements of complex educational content on its own.

The platform eventually came back to us to support the process from a quality and revision perspective. Because we already understood their standards, terminology, content, and expectations, our linguists could review the AI output, identify issues, and guide it toward a much stronger final result.

For us, this is a good example of how technology and human expertise can work together. AI can make localization faster and more scalable, while experienced linguists provide the judgment and quality control that technology still cannot fully replace.

What localization can unlock

For universities, online learning platforms, companies providing employee training, coaches, course creators, and other organizations producing educational content, localization can turn an existing content library into an international asset.

Instead of limiting a course or training program to the language in which it was created, localization can help you:

  • Reach learners in new markets
  • Make existing content accessible to international audiences
  • Extend the value and lifespan of your content
  • Support both B2C and B2B audiences
  • Create additional revenue opportunities from your existing library
  • Deliver a consistent learning experience across languages

After nine years of working together, this partnership has shown us that educational localization is rarely a one-size-fits-all process. Different audiences, subjects, formats, and technologies require different approaches.

But with the right combination of linguistic expertise, subject knowledge, technology, and collaboration, content created for one audience can become valuable to many more.
